Memorial Day is not just a long weekend.

It is a day of remembrance for the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country — those who made the ultimate sacrifice so the rest of us could live freely, lead boldly, raise families, build careers, and pursue opportunity.

Some gave years of service.

Some gave pieces of themselves that no one could see.

And some gave everything.

That kind of sacrifice deserves more than a passing acknowledgment. It deserves remembrance, gratitude, and respect.

As leaders, there is something powerful we can learn from those who served:

* Commitment to something bigger than self

* Courage under pressure

* Discipline even when things are hard

* Loyalty to the people beside you

* Service without expecting recognition

This Memorial Day, while we gather with family and friends, let us never forget the cost of the freedoms we often take for granted.

Honor them not only with words — but with the way we live, lead, and serve others.

To all who have lost someone in service to our nation:

We remember them.

We honor them.

And we thank them.
