Lessons from the Field #17: Larry’s District Dayz
District Dayz are more than store walks—they’re an opportunity to bring every part of the business together around one common goal: supporting our stores and the people who serve our customers every day.
This week, I had the privilege of spending the day in Larry OPry alongside our VP George Wilkins our vendor partners, and our backstage support teams. Seeing so many different areas of the business working together reminded me that great execution is never the result of one person or one team. It takes all of us.
Store teams shared their successes and challenges. Vendor partners offered ideas and solutions. Our support teams provided expertise, and our leadership team had the opportunity to coach, recognize great work, and listen.
Larry did an outstanding job leading the day. He created an environment where conversations were open, feedback was welcomed, and every visit became an opportunity to learn and improve.
One of the greatest benefits of District Dayz is that they allow us to step away from reports and dashboards and experience our business where it matters most—in our stores.
A few reminders from the field:
* The best ideas often come from the people closest to the customer.
* Strong partnerships create stronger execution.
* Recognition builds confidence and engagement.
* Leadership is about being present, listening, coaching, and removing obstacles so teams can succeed.
Thank you to Larry, our store teams, our VP, our vendor partners, and every member of our backstage support team for investing your time, knowledge, and passion into making the day meaningful.
When we bring different perspectives together with one shared purpose, we don’t just improve stores—we strengthen our entire organization.
Great stores are built by great teams, and great teams are built through partnership, trust, and shared purpose.
